Retirement of Sunny George Verghese as Chairman of the Board:
As HCLI’s founding chairman since its establishment in 2010, Mr. Verghese has been an outstanding visionary and leader. His unwavering dedication to HCLI and strategic insights over the past 14 years have been instrumental in raising HCLI’s awareness and brand as an organisation committed to developing leaders and leadership in Asia. In this time, HCLI has grown its impact and reach to attract participants and speakers from some of the world’s top organizations, while keeping true to its Asia focus. HCLI extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Verghese for his remarkable leadership.
Welcome Arnoud De Meyer as New Chairman:
We are delighted to welcome Arnoud De Meyer, Professor Emeritus of Singapore Management University, as our new Chairman of the Board. Arnoud has been an integral part of HCLI, serving on our board since its founding 14 years ago and contributing extensively to our mission. As a global leader with more than 35 years of experience in top international institutions in Europe and Asia, and former President of Singapore Management University (SMU), Arnoud is well positioned to steer HCLI in the coming years. Arnoud also has extensive experience in executive education, launching business programs, including as Director (Dean) of the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), where he developed the MBA programme and launched the very successful EMBA and Master of Finance Programmes, and as founding Dean of INSEAD’s Asia campus in Singapore. Arnoud has also consulted with large manufacturing corporations in Europe and East Asia and serves on the board of multiple companies and non-profit organisations.
Board Change Effective 1 July 2023:
The appointment of our new board chairman takes effect on 1 July 2023. Other members of the HCLI Board of Directors include Ng Chee Khern (Permanent Secretary of the Singapore Ministry of Manpower), Png Cheong Boon (Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board), Jacqueline Wong (Corporate Advisor at Temasek International), Charles Ormiston (Advisory Partner at Bain & Co), Ong Chin Yin (Chief People Officer at Grab), and Doris Sohmen-Pao (CEO at Human Capital Leadership Institute). Alternate Directors include Damian Chan (Executive Vice President at Singapore Economic Development Board) and Kenny Tan (Deputy Secretary, Workforce, at Singapore Ministry of Manpower). Kenny replaces Poon Hong Yuen, also of the Ministry of Manpower, effective 1 July 2023. HCLI wishes to thank Hong Yuen for his contributions and welcomes Kenny.
