Last Friday,
Together, the panel explored how inclusive innovation and lifelong learning can transform education to meet the demands of the 21st century, with a spotlight on Asia’s potential to lead in human capital development. Dr. Zafar shared how we need to go back to the “Why” of education, in order to decide “What” we teach and “How” we teach. His view was that traditional schools are not doing enough to prepare children for the real world, focusing instead on only a few academic subjects to measure their ability. He also shared that technology had the ability to enable a personalised learning experience for each student based on their own abilities, rather than force everyone to go through a cookie-cutter factory model where everyone learns the same thing at the same time.
We’re grateful to INSEAD for hosting this critical conversation, and reminding us of the importance of collective action and forward-thinking ideas in shaping a more inclusive and adaptive future for education.
