Global Board Leadership Summit

Global Board Leadership Summit

GBLS Singapore 2022

Overview

Global Board Leadership Summit (GBLS) 2022: Board Leadership in a New World Order

Corporations and boards are facing a new world order. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine heralded a new era of geopolitical conflict. Energy security is threatened, energy prices are skyrocketing and creating inflationary pressure on the global economy. Covid remains a drag on world trade and supply chains.  Climate change demands a fundamental transition across all industries.  At the same time, digitalisation continues to disrupt and transform business models. Corporations and boards require agility to succeed in this New World Order.

At the Global Board Leadership Summit (GBLS), board leaders from around the world meet to discuss what they can do to meet these challenges. Boards need to be more proactive in dealing with geopolitics. They need to be prepared for the transition to a fossil free future. They must become techno literate to steer digital transformation. They need to cultivate the human capital to thrive.

The coming GBLS in Singapore will address four major themes:

  1. Boardroom Challenges in a New World Order: Geopolitical Risk, Sustainability and Climate Action, Deglobalisation and Supply Chain Reconfiguration, Inflation and Growth
  2. Sustainable Governance and Business Transformation
  3. Digitalisation, Cyber Risk and Resilience
  4. Succession, Diversity and Leadership Development

Through sharing of insights and robust debate and discussion of real-life board dilemmas, participants will be provided with the opportunity to learn from subject matter experts and other global board leaders, to forge their paths forward to co-create a more sustainable future.

About GBLS

Boards today face a myriad of global issues ranging from macroeconomic risks to political uncertainty, cyber risks, digitalisation and disruption, sustainability and responsible board leadership. This calls for global dialogue between boardroom leaders to find the best responses to these global issues.

It was on this premise that GBLS was established, with the aim of improving global board leadership practices that focus on long-term value creation and sustainable growth – for the good of the individual firm, shareholders and society at large.

Jointly hosted by the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) of Singapore and the Board Leadership Society of Denmark, the first and second GBLS were held in Singapore on 9-10 January 2019 and Copenhagen on 30-31 October 2019 respectively.

An exclusive, by-invitation-only event, GBLS has brought together more than 100 board leaders from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and South Africa to inspire and lead discussions across borders on new ideas and solutions to the opportunities, challenges and risks facing global corporations today.

    Curriculum & Approach

The curriculum is built around the most significant macro challenges facing global corporations today. It addresses critical board leadership and governance issues through a combination of presentations, panel discussions, analyses of case studies developed based on real life events faced by global corporations, as well as experiential learning through role play and simulation. GBLS is facilitated by teaching teams comprising academic and board leaders, is highly interactive, and peer-to-peer learning oriented in its format.
