The inaugural session of the Directors-in-Dialogue series provided the latest thinking on how Board Directors can make a leadership difference by knowing when to take charge, when to partner and when to get out of the way.
Facilitated by Michael Useem and based on his recent book - "Boards That Lead," the session provided practical insights into how Board Directors can lead more efficiently. Board Directors need a new road map - for when to lead, when to partner, and when to stay out of the way. Michael advocated a new governance model - a sharp departure from what has been demanded by governance activists, analysts and regulators - and revealed emerging practices that are defining shared leadership of directors and executives.
Together with two eminent corporate leaders, he addressed the following topics:
- Board Directors as leaders
- CEO and director selection
- Designing effective Boards
- Success in the boardroom
