Increasingly, HR leaders are expected to contribute to leading and shaping the organisation’s business strategy and sustainable management agenda with senior business leaders and stakeholders. Progressing to leadership positions within the organisation requires a broader understanding and perspective of the entire business and industry trends, in order to provide strategic insights and contribute to effective strategic decision making.
The HCLI-INSEAD HR Business Acumen Programme (HRBAP) provides a platform for HR leaders to gain insights on industry trends, and navigate through the dynamic and complex environment businesses operate in. It is designed to deepen HR Leaders’ understanding of business strategy, financial acumen, and stakeholder management. The programme enables HR leaders to deliver credible and persuasive points of view on business strategy and the implications on organisation strategy and human capital management. In addition, the programme contents are aligned with advanced HR competencies.
Organised by the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) in partnership with INSEAD, the business school for the world, HRBAP assembles an esteemed group of thought leaders, world-renown professors, and HR industry leaders to share their experience, insights, and discuss emerging trends influencing and shaping business strategy and human capital management to:
- Develop senior HR leaders in their HR-business acumen competencies
- Equip HR leaders with strategic frameworks and an understanding of fundamental business knowledge
- Enhance HR leaders' ability to understand and work with multiple stakeholders to drive business transformation
Joint HCLI-INSEAD certifications will be awarded for each completed module. Participants who complete all 3 modules will be awarded a programme certificate.
The programme comprises three modules that can be taken individually, with HCLI-INSEAD certifications awarded for each completed module.

Each module combines a number of learning elements to create a balanced blend of learning, interactions and application in the learning journey for participants. The platform allows participants to learn at their own pace during each week, by viewing the content, completing assignments and engaging in discussions.
Jennifer Hsiao is Vice President, APAC and SEA Talent Management and Business Operations at Bain & Company, leading Bain’s talent strategy for 16 offices across Asia Pacific. She also leads talent operations for Bain’s five offices in Southeast Asia. In both capacities, she oversees leadership development, professional development, performance management, employer value proposition, employee engagement and retention, training, diversity, talent pipeline planning, new market expansion and other strategic talent initiatives.
She has more than 9 years of management consulting experience, advising executive teams of Fortune 500 companies on corporate strategy, new market expansion and large-scale transformation across Southeast Asia and the US.
Jennifer earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Social Studies from Harvard University.
Jisun Park is the Director of Human Resources for Google’s Global Business Organization in APAC. In this role, she leads a team of HR Generalists to drive the people strategy for Google’s largest function in the region.
Prior to this role, she held a variety of roles within People Operations at Google- as Head of APAC HR Operations, Head of APAC Product Area Staffing and Head of APAC Talent Channels. She spent the earlier part of her career in the business; her first role at Google was Head of Regional Revenue Development where she was responsible for driving initiatives to accelerate ad revenue growth in APAC.
She was formerly a Senior Manager in Organizational Effectiveness at DFS (a subsidiary of the LVMH group) and has held various roles in consulting and finance at L.E.K. Consulting, Merrill Lynch, and Kurt Salmon Associates.
Jisun has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
As the Chief HR Officer and Advisor (Workforce Development) for the Public Service Division, Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore, Peck Kem is responsible for professionalising HR in the public sector of 16 Ministries and more than 60 Statutory Boards.
She is also the elected President of the Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI).
Prior to her current appointment at the PSD, she was the Senior Director for HR & OD for a not for profit organization, The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) based in Geneva, where she was responsible for HR, OD, Legal, Internal Audit and Corporate Administration for the 15 global offices at GAIN.
Peck Kem has the unique combination of experience from a quality engineer to manufacturing manager to VP Human resources in the private sector (Tandon, Western Digital, Hewlett Packard, Agilent Technologies & Avago Technologies), a Divisional Director of National HR Division in the Singapore Ministry of Manpower in the public sector, a Senior Director ODHR in GAIN, a not for profit organization based in Geneva to now a Chief HR Officer for the Singapore Public Service Division. This combination has widened her perspective in private, public and NGO sectors, and viewing the leadership from an Asian and European perspective.
Peck Kem has a Masters in Human Resource Management from Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from NTU. She is also a Chartered Companion of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and IHRP Master Professional.
Rebekah is the Head of Human Resources, Asia Pacific Medical Devices, Johnson & Johnson, responsible for talent across Asia Pacific with a primary focus on Leadership, Culture, Talent Management and Employee Experience.
Rebekah has 17 years of HR experience and seven years of prior industry experience accumulated through living and working in six countries, five industries and three functions. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Rebekah was the Global Head of Human Capital for BW Offshore based in Norway and previously held the role of Global Head of HR and Communications at BW Shipping based in Singapore. Rebekah has worked on multiple aspects of HR including Strategy, Team mobilization, Talent & Performance Management, Talent Acquisition, Rewards, Labour Relations, Corporate Restructures and Rightsizing, Mergers & Acquisitions, Leadership Development, Change Management and Cultural Transformation, as well as general HR Operations.
Born in India, Rebekah graduated on the Dean’s list with an MBA from INSEAD in 2003 and gained a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree from Delhi University in 1994. Prior to her MBA, Rebekah worked as Account Director at Text 100 Public Relations based in New Delhi servicing primarily the Microsoft, Compaq and several dotcom accounts. She started her career as a management trainee in Finance for Kraft Foods Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. Rebekah lives in Singapore with her husband of 25 years, her 14-year-old daughter and their 7-year old beagle. In her spare time, Rebekah enjoys horse-riding, birdwatching, yoga, pottery, baking and reading but is also being inspired by Johnson & Johnson into getting fitter by the day!
