ASEAN Leadership Programme

Overview

The ASEAN Leadership Programme (ALP) brings together business peers with the intention of regional expansion and some 25 experts from diverse fields for one purpose — to support organisational and personal success in cross-border growth. To achieve this end, the ALP combines training in regional awareness, cross-border leadership skills, and international business approaches with ‘on-the-ground’ access to regional business leaders.

The programme is delivered through a blended (virtual and in-person) and multi-modular format.

Key Benefits

The programme seeks to develop leaders' capacities to:

(1) Excel in complex and foreign business environments;
(2) Lead effectively across boundaries;
(3) Communicate effectively with stakeholders; and
(4) Acquire a growth and ownership mindset for business expansion.

These four objectives are addressed across the programme through blended learning − in-person and virtual - across three core modules.

An optional ASEAN country immersion module will provide deeper and richer contextual learning for participants, as well as giving them opportunities to network and learn from regional business leaders.

Programme Experience

Module One (Crossing Borders) builds the cohort as a community, creating a shared understanding of the imperatives and complexities of regional expansion, and benefits from the past experiences of those who have gone before. It includes curated discussions on current market developments, approaches to framing ASEAN-centric strategies, and case studies on both business development and leadership in regional settings.

Module Two (Leading Across Borders) showcases both cutting edge research on intercultural relationship-building in ASEAN, and direct connection with business leaders from other ASEAN markets.​

The combination of Modules One and Two will yield a pathway for participants to optimise their investment in a regional push.​

Module Three (Getting There) focuses on specific implementation approaches. It involves workshopping strategies and identifying next steps. Setting the stage for more effective regional expansion and the ALP’s immersion module.​

Module 4 (Being There) is an optional market immersion that will provide context to and reinforce earlier programme learning ‘on the ground’. Participants directly experience an ASEAN country from a local perspective through frank conversations with local business leaders and policymakers, and visits to local companies. ​
